100 jobs go in Buckfast as carpet firm is saved
More than 100 jobs are expected to be lost in Buckfast as part of a deal to save Axminster Carpets.
Most of the company's employees will lose their jobs as part of the deal to stop the firm going into liquidation.

200 jobs will be axed at the Axminster headquarters in East Devon and more than 100 will go at the weaving and spinning plant in Buckfast.
Last month the company, established in 1755, applied to go into administration.

“Why would anyone want to re-carpet a room 6-10 times? Surely after 1-2 re-carpets you would work out why the stuff they sell at Trago is so much cheaper. It is what is known as a false economy, not to mention the disruption of the work itself. A carpet is for life, not just for winter.”
