"It is quite a busy road and somebody might have seen something.
"The victim was a 19-year-old male who was walking up the road with his 16-year-old girlfriend at 11pm on Wednesday, October 31.
"A group of nine males set upon the male victim in an unprovoked attack.
"His injuries are quite bad. He was kicked and punched and stamped on.
"His front left tooth is missing, two other teeth have cracked roots and have been knocked out of place.
"He has other bruising and cuts and still has to go back to hospital for his jaw to be examined.
"The attack happened as they were walking up the hill from the Tesco garage, just before the 'Welcome to Hele Village' sign."
The 16-year-old girl is said to have been traumatised after witnessing the attack on her boyfriend.
DC Kendrick appealed for any witnesses to the assault to contact her by ringing the Devon and Cornwall police non-emergency number on 101.
