49-hour radio show on Exmouth's Bay FM raises more than £1,800
A 49-HOUR radio show on Exmouth's Bay FM has raised more than £1,800. The non-stop programme was meant to be a 48-hour broadcast, but presenter Chris Tees says he forgot that the clocks went back at the weekend!
The marathon broadcasting challenge, which took place on Saturday 27 October-Sunday 28 October, raised funds for the local community radio station's launch cost.
Presenter Chris Tees said, "I planned to do 48 hours but, forgot about the clocks going back! I was determined to do the whole weekend. It was extremely hard, especially watching the studio clock go back an hour on Sunday morning."
The challenge raised just over £900, and the funds were given an extra boost when local businessman Martin Gill pledged to match what Chris raised, making just over £1,800 in total.

Other volunteers at the station supported Chris throughout the challenge, supplying food and coffee.
Station manager Andy Green said, "It's brilliant what Chris has done and raised for the station. He's a credit to us all. I would like to thank everyone for their donations and support for Chris and the station."
Exmouth-based Bay FM radio was awarded a full-time licence earlier this year. It plans to launch soon on 106.4 FM, serving Exmouth, Budleigh Salterton, Woodbury and surrounding areas.
