George and Martha's persistent and cruel verbal sparring dominates the action, and the façade of Nick and Honey's good relationship crumbles as the play goes on.

The sequence of destructive "party games" imaginatively entitled Humiliate the Host; Get the Guests; Hump the Hostess; provide both a witty and a deeply sad backdrop to the play , and show Albee's skill for writing narrative speeches.

However, Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf is about much more than relationships.

It touches on two considerations very much at the forefront of our political thinking: the role and the value of higher education in our society; and our relationship with money and what we can and cannot buy with it.
