96 per cent of English Literature students achieved a grade C or better, with 72 per cent achieving A*- B grades. 70 per cent of Maths students achieved a grade C, a significant improvement on last year - and a best ever outcome for the young people of Dartmouth.

Some students will now continue to take the Higher Maths paper in June to gain access to A*-B grades; others will now stop Maths and focus on their other studies and the remaining students who have yet to achieve a grade C will continue in smaller groups, boosting their chances further.

A fantastic week for the Academy was finished off with Science modular results for Year 9 and 10 and 11 students showing yet further improvement and excellent ICT results.

90 per cent of Year 11 Science students put through early got a grade C or above.

Academy Principal Nick Hindmarsh said: “This has been a wonderful week for us! These results are a just reward for our students’ efforts, those of their teachers, and no doubt to their parents for the support they have given. We are seeing the fruit of the hard work all our students and staff have put in over the last two and a half years, which have already seen a 25 per cent increase in GCSE passes last year alone.

“We have put the right systems in place to help our students achieve their potential and aspire to be the best they can be – we are firmly on the road to success.”
