More students have applied to join Year 7 in September this year and the school hopes for even more to apply in the coming months, continuing the trend that has been in evidence since last September.

Academy leaders are putting the rise down to the improved results, curriculum and image of the Academy, plus excitement at its current rebuild.

Dartmouth Academy Principal Nick Hindmarsh said it was great to see families in the Dartmouth area choose their local school.

“We have been saying that we want to be a great school which gives Dartmouth children what they deserve and increases their achievements and aspirations,” he said. “We are starting to make tangible progress so that people are voting with their feet and signing up with us. With the rebuild, improved results and a happy academy family, the future is looking bright for Dartmouth education.

“We are particularly pleased because the recent increases and that for Year 7 in September come against a backdrop of fewer children in the catchment area.”
