THIS is a stunning book aimed at local residents, keen walkers or indeed anyone with a passion for this beautiful corner of Britain.
Philip Carter, a Devonian by birth, has written a quite charming work which features many beautiful photographs showing off the region's many splendours to great effect.
His journey kicks off at Minehead in Somerset and travels westwards before switching directions at Land's End and hitting the finishing line at Poole Harbour in Dorset.
Browsing through at a leisurely pace you quickly realise how attractive and very appealing this lovely part of the world really is.
A joyful mix of colour photographs accompany the text, each one of breathtaking clarity. And there is a healthy dose of full-page images which do justice to the sweep of magnificent landscape covered.
Chapter seven was understandably interesting for me as a Torquay girl. I have lived here all my life, but still my eyes were opened to some of the stupendous views which you can hardly imagine unless you see them from these beguiling angles.
A handy map of the entire area covered in the book can be found on the first few pages.
From cover to cover, this really is a wonderful bible for those who have a passion for the simply wonderful South West.
Philip Carter will be signing copies of the book at the Mitre Bookshop in Newton Abbot's Bank Street on Friday, April 3, from 7pm.
