Anthony Tonkin starts a two-match ban as Aldershot prepare to host fellow strugglers Torquay in a crucial clash at the EBB Stadium.

The left-back saw red in the second half of Saturday's impressive 1-1 draw at Cheltenham and will now miss the visit of the Gulls as well as this weekend's home fixture against Fleetwood.

Winger Lionel Ainsworth is also set to miss out having been replaced just 37 minutes into his full debut versus the Robins nursing a thigh injury.

The likes of Oliver Risser and Ben Herd will be checked over having taken heavy knocks during the game although they both managed to complete the full 90 minutes.

Aldershot currently occupy one of the two relegation berths in League Two but are just six points and four places behind Torquay.

Torquay are confident that Aaron Downes and Lee Mansell will be fit.

Australian centre-back Downes had to come off after 65 minutes of their 1-0 defeat to Rochdale on Saturday with a head injury while midfielder Mansell needed stitches for injuries sustained at Spotland.

The pair are Shaun Taylor's only injury worries with no players sidelined for the long-term.

Rene Howe came through the 90 minutes for the Gulls after returning from suspension while fellow forward Elliot Benyon got some more game time under his belt as the Southend loanee looks to build up his match fitness.
