Ale and food lovers set to flock to festival
ONE of the West Country's finest beer and food festivals is almost upon us.
Abbfest is expected to draw thousands of ale and food lovers to Fermoy's Garden Centre field, Totnes Road, Ipplepen, when it gets under way on Friday, September 21.
More than 140 Devon-brewed beers and ciders will be available, together with food from caterers and stallholders.
Organisers are expecting around 60 stallholders promoting West Country food and crafts, and some from further afield including Abbotskerswell's twin village in Normandy selling wine, cheese, cider and Calvados.

Abbfest, an established event in South Devon, started in 2004 to promote Devon food and drink.
Planned and managed by volunteers, it is a registered charity with the aim of raising money for local groups. So far, it has raised more than £90,000.
The event kicks off on Friday at 5pm when the beer tent opens. In the evening Raspberry Fish will play everything from rock to punk, disco to funk.
From 11am on Saturday there will be a line-up of top chefs demonstrating their skills with Michelin Star chef Michael Caines of Gidleigh Park, Masterchef winner James Nathan, Ian Nixon of Vanilla Pod at the Cridford Inn, Trusham, Richard Hunt from Torquay's Grand Hotel and Lori Reich from Shute Farm in Bishopsteignton.
The food festival will be open from 11am until 5pm. The bars will be open from 11am until 11pm.
Musical entertainment will be from barbershop quartet Jigsaw in the afternoon, and bluegrass band Flats and Sharps in the evening, together with Dave the village DJ.
On Saturday evening Solar will play soul, funk and disco classics.
Sunday begins at 11am until 4pm again with food and beer and entertainment from the Abbotskerswell Singers and jazz from Men Behaving Tradly.
