A COOMBESHEAD Academy student is celebrating winning an iPad after coming second in a national art competition.

Katherine Edwoods (pictured), who is in year nine, entered the contest run by the Constitutional Monarchy Association, with the theme of the Queen's diamond jubilee.

Known to her friends and family as Kat, she was encouraged to get involved in the contest by her art teacher Sian Rogers.

Those who entered had to depict how they saw the Queen in her jubilee year.
