"I feel children's authors have a responsibility to get out and meet their audience. I want to inspire young people to read, even if it isn't one of my books," Chris said at the school.

College librarian, Jo Slade, said: "The talk Chris gave was very funny so the students were on the edge of their seats wanting to hear the next part of the tale.

"During the lunch break, all remaining Chris d'Lacey library books have gone out on loan so I can see Chris has been successful in his aim to inspire student reading."
