NOMINATIONS are now open to recognise the hard work and dedication of health and social care staff across Torbay and South Devon.

The Blue Shield Awards are held annually to celebrate the people who go above and beyond their role and make a real difference to health and social care.

There are a total of nine categories within the awards including individual, team, partnership, sustainability, equality and diversity, volunteer, and the lifetime achievement awards.

This year, there is a new award called 'Living the Values' which is looking for members of staff who have gone that extra mile to fulfil the NHS values.

The values include respect and dignity, commitment to quality care, improving people's lives and working together for patients.

Adrienne Murphy, joint director of human resources for South Devon Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust and Torbay and Southern Devon Health and Care NHS Trust, said: "All of our staff work extremely hard to ensure that every single person who comes into our care gets the highest quality of service.

"However, we know that so many of our staff go above and beyond their roles each and every day.

"The Blue Shield Awards are all about recognising the people who make a real difference to health and social care, as well as a way to share and celebrate some of the many success stories.

"Service users, patients, voluntary organisations and staff can go online to complete a nomination form or you can pick up a copy of the nomination form from a variety of health and social care sites."

Application forms can be downloaded via www.tsdhc.nhs.uk

The deadline for nomination is Friday December 14 and the winners will be announced in March.
