Awards ceremony is a night to remember
SUCCESS stories from across South Devon were celebrated at the Herald Express Business Excellence Awards in Torquay. The sixth annual awards ceremony took place at the Riviera International Conference Centre on Friday, March 15.
Around 200 guests gathered to applaud the hard work, resilience, innovation, inspiration and never-say-die attitude of the local business community despite the testing economic climate.
There were more than 90 entries for this year's awards, which included a new category for the Business Enabler of the Year.
The event was organised in conjunction with headline sponsors Torbay Development Agency and Torbay Council, who both sponsored the Business of the Year award.

The Mayor of Torbay, Gordon Oliver said: "I am delighted that for the sixth year, Torbay Council and our economic development company, the TDA, supported the Business Excellence Awards. Our objective is to help businesses, create jobs and boost the local economy and the Awards is a tremendous event - recognising many successful companies in the area.
"Through the partnership with the Herald Express, we hope to raise the aspirations and skills of local businesses, and ultimately increase jobs and prosperity in the area.

The 10 category awards were sponsored by Inter-Line Building Supplies, Business Advantage South Devon College, Snows Group Business Centre, South West Energy Centre, Garage Door Services Ltd, The Training Partnership Ltd, First Great Western, Herald Express, Eastleys Solicitors and Pavey Group.
The ceremony was hosted by BBC Radio Devon lunchtime presenter David Fitzgerald.
As part of the event, the guests enjoyed a three-course dinner and live music from local band Three Bags Full.
The Batak Challenge, which put guests' hand-eye co-ordination to the test against the clock, helped to raise funds for Comic Relief.
