Saunders - who has won an International Emmy award and two BAFTAs for Absolutely Fabulous, and was awarded the BAFTA fellowship in 2009 – was the surprise mystery guest for the seventh annual Dartmouth comedy festival. Harry Enfield - famous for nineties TV show Harry Enfield and Chums and the film blockbuster Kevin & Perry Go Large – also won a BAFTA in 2009. Previous mystery guests at the festival have featured impromptu gigs from Keith Allen, Eddie Izzard and Robbie Coltrane.

Popular TV comics Josh Widdicombe and Seann Walsh starred either side of the mystery guest evening, Josh Widdicombe kicking off the festival on Tuesday and Seann Walsh closing it. Both are TV regulars on Channel 4's Stand Up for the Week and 8 Out Of 10 Cats, plus the BBC's Live at the Apollo and Mock The Week. Josh is currently enjoying success with Channel 4's The Last Leg.

"It was fantastic to see Jennifer relaxed and chatting to the audience so up close and personal" says Flavel Artistic Director Sarah Hackford."We are delighted how the Festival has gone this year with ticket sales well above budget. We would like to say a big thankyou to all the sponsors and everybody who has supported the Festival. It has now become an annual event on the Dartmouth calendar and we are already being given requests for comedians to try and book for next year!"
