Up to 20mm of rain was forecast to fall during Friday afternoon, with the risk of flooding increased by melting snow on higher ground.

Some areas were expected to be upgraded to the more serious Flood Warning status during the evening.

After a brief respite during the day on Saturday, the rain was expected to return.
