NEWCOMERS to the awards, Buckland Tout Saints Hotel, were overjoyed after winning the best customer service title.

The 16-bedroom country hotel set in four and a half acres of grounds and gardens near Kingsbridge was praised by judges for its 'fantastic service' which is 'continuously delivered'.

General manager Gemma Balaam said at the awards night: "This really is testament to the energy and huge effort made by our excellent team at the hotel. We will continue to strive to give customers an excellent experience."

The hotel, with a team of 28 full and part-time staff, is part of the Eden Hotel Collection, a privately owned portfolio of luxury hotels which also includes the Mallory Court Hotel in Leamington Spa, the Arden Hotel in Stratford upon Avon and the Kings Hotel at Chipping Campden.

Eden Hotel Collection managing director, Mark Chambers, said: "We wanted to be positive and yes, we were expecting to win because this is a first-class hotel and there is a lot of hard work and effort made by all of the staff."

    “THe judges opinions may differ to to other people's opinions. Other people might find that they did not like this place. IT just goes to show you cannot be decieved these days by anybody”

    “This is a truly wonderful hotel with excellent food and service. My wife and I were married at this hotel and the staff made our day. The icing on the cake was when David Suchet turned up and joined us for an after dinner drink followed by a short speech - he was working at Burgh Island at the time filming an episode of Poirot. Well done to all the Staff”
