Downwardly mobile Tiverton Town tumbled to ninth in Division One South and West following a disappointing 2-0 defeat at resurgent Wimborne Town.
Micky Hubbard's 17th-minute penalty and a first Wimborne goal for Alex Moth, in the 79th minute, hauled the Magpies to within a place and point of Tiverton.
Wimborne twice hit a post in the first half while Tiverton goalkeeper Chris Wright saved well from Jon Blake after Tivvy's Kevin Hill went off at half-time injured.
Wright also turned a Moth shot on to a post before the home striker netted.
Tiverton – who have not won in ten games now – aim to get back to back on track at 13th-placed Shortwood United tomorrow night.
Barnstaple Town remain seven points adrift at the Toolstation Western League Premier Division basement two thirds of the way through the season following a 3-1 home defeat to Bitton.
Barnstaple trailed 3-0 before gaining some consolation through a late own goal.
Ilfracombe Town lost their mid-table meeting 3-1 at Melksham Town despite a goal from Steve Holland.
Ross Middleton's Bluebirds are back in home action tomorrow night when Devon rivals Willand Rovers visit Marlborough Park (7.45pm).
Clive Jones' Rovers will be anxious to get back into match action following the postponement of Saturday's home league fixture against Cadbury Heath at Silver Street, due to a waterlogged pitch.
Buckland Athletic – who drew 1-1 at third from bottom Bridport on Saturday – host ninth placed Bitton in midweek.
In the First Division, Tiverton side Elmore warmed up for their midweek home match against third-placed Chard Town with a confidence boosting 3-2 home win over Cheddar. That win lifted Elmore to 15th, level on points with 14th-placed Cheddar.
