Blockbuster goes into administration, branches in Torquay, Paignton and Newton Abbot

DVD rental firm Blockbuster has gone into administration.

The chain has 528 stores employing 4,190 staff.

South Devon branches are at Market Street in Torquay, Torquay Road in Preston and Queen Street, Newton Abbot.

Deloitte, the accountancy firm that will now take over the day-to-day running of the firm, said Blockbuster had been affected by competition from internet-based film services.
