THE award-winning Grimethorpe Colliery Band return to Plymouth Pavilions on September 25.

The brass band, made world famous by the 1996 hit movie Brassed Off, were founded in 1917 since when they have received numerous awards and accolades and have performed all over the world including Australia, Japan, New Zealand, Hong Kong, the USA and most of Northern Europe.

They have wowed audiences at Proms in the Park and became the first brass band to reach number one in the Classic FM CD sales chart.

They are touring to promote a new CD, The Music Lives On, Now The Mines Have Gone, which features Grimethorpe and 11 of the UK's colliery bands.
