Buckland junior sides going strong
BUCKLAND Athletic in Newton Abbot have being going strong since 1977 when the first junior sides were established.
Teams started playing in the Devon and Exeter leagues in the mid-1980s.
The first photograph was taken at Dawlish Town's ground on April 12, 1986, and the match was the Devon County Under-18 Cup Final between Newton 66 and Buckland Athletic.
The game ended with a 2-1 win for 66 who were slightly the better and stronger team on the day. Score half-time was 1-0 to 66.

Although tasting defeat this season in the County Cup Final, Buckland did go on to win the Under-18 League and lift that Under-18 Cup trophy the following year, beating Stoke Gabriel at Brixham United's home ground.
The second photograph is a match played at Newton Abbot recreation ground on April 26, 1987, and was the final of the Under-18 Tyrone Power Cup between Buckland Athletic and Watts Blake Bearne.
This was one of four cup finals involving Buckland Athletic Under-18s during the season, the first being the Devon County FA Under-18 Final when Buckland defeated Stoke Gabriel at Wall Park in Brixham by 4-2.
The second final was the Dahal Cup Final, in which Watts Blake Bearne were to be Buckland's opposition — a closely fought game with WBB running out winners 3-2.
The third final was the featured one in today's photograph with Buckland this time turning the tables on WBB and winning by 3-2 themselves after the time.
The fourth cup final for the lads that season was the Ken Best Cup Final, in which Buckland beat Stoke Gabriel 4-0 to lift a third trophy to add to winning the Under-18 South Devon Youth League.

The half-time score was goalless and it was one each at full-time and 3-2 to us after extra time, with all three goals coming from Trevor Webber.
