Bucks happy to take points over panache
BUCKLAND Athletic secured their 15th consecutive victory in all competitions with a 1-0 victory over struggling Liskeard Athletic at Homers Heath — restoring their seven-point lead at the top of the Premier Division.
Assistant manager Jamie Carwardine admitted his side's latest triumph was not as emphatic as many would have hoped.

"We played below our usual standards but we need to remind ourselves that three points is the most important thing," said the Bucks assistant.
"The players have come off the pitch as if they've lost because we've set very high standards and they're disappointed that they didn't reach them.
"However we'll take scrappy 1-0 wins in our remaining 12 games because at this stage of the season all that matters is winning.
"We lacked a bit of quality in the final third which is surprising when you consider that Antony Lynch and Gavin Hammon have scored 43 goals between them.
"But you also have to give credit to Liskeard because they got men behind the ball and their goalkeeper Ian Baker was superb."
The game's only goal came in the 11th minute when Hammon raced past two defenders before crossing for Lynch to head home past the impressive Baker.
Buckland applied a lot of pressure in the second half but Baker was in inspired form, keeping out efforts from Mark Young and Shane Gill in particular.
Although the Bucks failed to add to their score, they were rarely in danger of conceding an equaliser.
DARTMOUTH'S inconsistent form continued as they followed up last week's superb draw at reigning champions Bodmin with a humbling 5-0 defeat at home against Falmouth Town.
"It was terrible and I've no complaints about the result," said joint manager Jamie Bennellick.
"If there was a league of inconsistency we would be top of it but I won't let this result effect me because I know we will put in a performance against Plymouth Parkway (tomorrow night).
"I've learned not to get too happy when we perform like we did last week at Bodmin and equally I don't get too down when we play like this because it's just a waste of energy."
A mix-up between Darts defender Kevin Causley and goalkeeper Nathan Murphy allowed Ryan Fice to score Falmouth's opener in the 10th minute and five minutes later Daniel Green's miscued right-wing cross drifted inside the far post to double the visitors' lead.
Green fired home his second shortly before half-time, but it was not until the 70th minute that Fice added a fourth and Matt Drummond completed the scoring just before the final whistle.
BOVEY TRACEY totally capitulated in the final 15 minutes, conceding five goals to lose 6-2 at Launceston despite leading for most of the match.
Bovey held a comfortable 2-0 lead at half time and still led 2-1 until the 75th minute.
"We were, even by Launceston's acknowledgement, by far the better side in the first half," said manager Tom Kelly.
"But as soon as Launceston scored their second we were on the back foot and not for the first time this season our defence fell apart.
"We were the better side until the last 15 minutes and it's now getting boring that our heads drop once we let in one or two goals.
"We seem to lose our shape and we keep leaking three or more goals in 10 minutes spells."
Kelly said he felt particularly sorry for his side's goalkeeper Tom Buckler, and added: "He's one of the best in the league and he keeps losing several goals in a game and doesn't deserve it.
"It would be nice if we could have a boring game and keep a clean sheet, but we've got to start taking things on the chin and be tougher mentally."
The game at Pennygillam started very well for Bovey as they took a 25th-minute lead through Cameron Kelly before Mark Sneap added their second, two minutes later, with a close range effort.
The home side pulled a goal back three minutes into the second half through Sam Davey, but Kelly's side looked relatively comfortable going into the closing stages of the game.
However, when Dominic Richardson headed the Cornish side level in the 75th minute, things began to go badly wrong for Bovey.
Richardson was on target again in the 84th minute to put Launceston ahead and two minutes later substitute Matt Penry extended the home side's lead.
Davey netted his second in the 90th minute, before completing his hat-trick deep into stoppage time to complete a bizarre and lop-sided final scoreline.
