Busy Christmas Day for South Devon firefighters

FIREFIGHTERS across South Devon had a busy Christmas Day.

At 5.50am at Red Post near Totnes the Police requested the Fire Service's attendance at a road crash.

A car had collided with a tree and ambulance personnel had released one casualty. It was believed that there had been another occupant in the car who may have been thrown free.

Two fire appliances from Totnes attended to search surrounding fields using a thermal imaging camera and lighting. No-one was found and it was believed that they had left the scene.

Earlier, at 2.45am in Centry Road, Brixham they put out a chimney fire involving a woodburner and at 9.15am in Tor Gardens, East Ogwell a crew from Newton Abbot put out another chimney fire.

Another chimney fire was put out at Halwell, near Totnes at 2.15pm and two children were released from a lift in East Street, Newton Abbot at 4.50pm.
