Cafe owner tells residents: 'We won't disturb you'
THE owner of a beach cafe described by one objector as a potential 'mini-Glastonbury' has reassured local residents he won't disturb them.
Adam Nunn's application for entertainment and late-night opening at the Red Rock in Youngs Park, Goodrington has been approved by licensing councillors.

The plan met fierce objections from residents, with Torbay Council receiving 51 letters of objection from 60 names.
But after the meeting Mr Nunn tried to put residents' minds at rest.
He said the £80,000 revamp with leather sofas, more eating facilities and new furniture meant the cafe was looking 'better than it has ever looked'.
He urged them: "Come down, have a coffee and get a sense of the place first hand.
"If some of the objectors saw what we are trying to achieve they would see we are gearing it at a mature audience.
"In six months' time I hope people will be saying what a great thing it is."
He added: "I am trying to consider the feelings of people here. But I am pleased to have the licence."
Mr Nunn said he had applied for everything in his licence application 'just in case'.
"We have been given the opportunity to try out one or two things we want to do here to see if people like it.
"We aim to do Agatha Christie film showings and similar types of events, things that would appeal to people locally," he explained.
The licence application was unpopular with residents who say entertainment on the outdoor terrace will cause a disturbance in a very quiet area.
Tony Moss, speaking on behalf of eight residents of Seaborne Court, told the committee: "We live in a quiet area which is used mainly by young families and children.
"We have very little noise after 11pm.
"Our objection is to Mr Nunn selling alcohol until late in the evening which will lead to the noise of people leaving.
"There have been outside activities before in the park. The noise was horrendous and they weren't a success."
However he conceded: "It was a run-down cafe and Mr Nunn has made a good job of it."
Also speaking against the application was Nigel Cousens.
He said: "I run a very large licensed premises and I do not think this premises is suitable for all the entertainment.
"From around 9.30pm you can hear the ducks in the park. If you can hear ducks quacking you could hear background music."
Mr Nunn's licence was approved subject to a number of conditions laid down by the police such as the installation of a CCTV system covering inside and outside.
Alcohol can only be consumed outside by customers sitting at tables, drinks will be served in plastic glasses and the premises cannot run any drinks promotions.
Council licensing bosses also imposed a number of other conditions. The premises can only hold 16 events a year, all licensed activities must finish at 10pm, and any speakers outside must be placed facing away from residential properties.
Red Rock is due to open as a licensed premises on April 1.

“Goo luck Mr Nunn! This is a fantastic idea - exactly the sort of tourist attraction that should grace a 21st century resort. I really hope you can overcome the negativity of a small minority.
This will attract locals and tourists alike and create a real buzz. All of which will create jobs here.”

“Some Years ago Pink Floyd performed a concert in Venice from a pontoon moored in the Grand Canal near St Marks Square.
Could it be that a similar event could be held on the boating lake opposite the cafe ?
Bring it on....”
