A couple are planning to get married dressed as Batman and Wonder Woman.

The caped crusader groom is Neil Vaughn, 46, while his bride Sharon Wetherell, 40, will be dressed as the DC Comics superheroine for their wedding at Oldway Mansion in Paignton on Saturday.

The bride is expected to make her entrance with the theme tune to the hit 1970s television version of Wonder Woman playing in the background.The audience of classic comic favourites will see best man Robin take charge of the rings and notorious villain the Joker keeping events running smoothly as master of ceremonies.

Neil and Sharon wanted an alternative theme for their wedding as the couple often dress up for nights out.

"We are not particularly traditional and we wanted to have a fun day with our friends, so I suggested we have a themed wedding," said Neil.

"I have always wanted to be Batman, ever since I was a little boy and Sharon said she had always wanted to be Wonder Woman."

The guests, like true superheroes, will be flying in from all over the world with fantasy characters arriving from Australia, America and Europe.
