Carp add up as Davey tops 200lbs during 24-hour stay

PAIGNTON angler Jonny Davies had a 24-hour session 'interrupted' by a massive catch of more than 200lbs.

There were plenty of mid-teen carp and his largest was a common of 26lbs 2ozs.

Davies used Carp-Tec's strawberry boilies for all of these catches fishing out of hut one.

Dominic Crawley had one common on his unhooking mat weighing in at 18lbs fishing from hut 11 into the small bay.

Drew Mangon landed three carp including two commons of 19lbs 10ozs and 14lbs 6ozs, plus one mirror of 15lbs.

Fishing out of hut three and using Newbarn Farm's chocolate spice boilies, Mangon reported a slow start but a busy finish to his night session.

Cameron Jones, added four carp to the report. He weighed in two commons to 13lbs and two mirrors to 13lbs fishing out of hut one overnight.

Ray Connor from Brixham caught two mirror carp of 14lbs 12ozs and 17lbs 2ozs.Ray used a floating technique very close to swim and right into the margin.

A day session for Andy Meredith from Torquay, saw him land three commons of 10,12 and 14lbs.

Kevin Lock landed 19 carp to 17lbs. He caught the new celebrity ghost carp 'Goldie'. He had to pull his lines in at 3am because he needed to sleep. The fish were taking within minutes of placing his rigs. Kevin had a total weight exceeding 190.

While Lock was hauling in his massive catch the two anglers at the other end of the lake in huts four and six, Dan Court and Scot Bryant struggled to start with but then had eight carp between them. Bryant had six carp to 23lbs 8ozs and Court had two to 14lbs.

Brixham carper Darren Watts had a late day session and weighed four carp in. He had two commons at 23lbs 8ozs and 10lbs, then two mirrors of 13 and 14lbs.

Students from Paignton Community College and Westlands School visited to fish, many for the first time.

One or two lucky students had carp to 10lbs fishing on Willow and Island pools.
