Cary Arms turns clock back with winter music nights
THE sound of jazz is to reverberate around Babbacombe's Cary Arms as the pub warms up its winter events season.
As part of a monthly series of musical nights during the winter, local band Smooth Operators will be playing while customers dine from 7pm to 10pm this Sunday.

Their style is trad jazz with some blues. The jazz nights will take place on the first Sunday of each month.
The pub will also be celebrating the Christmas season with the arrival of Santa by boat on December 13 and 20 to lead a candlelit carol parade along the water's edge to Santa's Grotto. Dinner is served from 5.30pm and children eat free.

Ian Solkin, managing director of Peter De Savary's Havana West development company, said Sunday lunches are proving increasingly popular as they have introduced a draw at the end of the meal, with the chance of winning one night's bed and breakfast stay at their boutique hotel for two.
Mr Solkin said: "It's a bit of fun and has proved quite popular."
During the week the pub is turning the clock back to 1927.
Mr Solkin explained a relative of the owner in 1927 brought in a hotel brochure from that year.
"The grand-daughter of the original hotelier brought it in. We have had the booklet reprinted for customers," he said.
Now they have created a weekly lunchtime and dinner menu using classic recipes from that menu, teamed with a good wine.
The first 1927 menu includes Coq Au Vin in red wine and herbs, winter vegetables and mash served with a glass of Cotes De Ventoux from the Rhone Valley for £19.27 for two people available Monday to Thursday. The menu will change each month.
