ORGANISERS of Kingsbridge Show are gearing up for another busy event.

The show has been running for 126 years and prides itself on still having a 'local feel' that keeps it close to the traditional agricultural and horticultural roots.

The show will be held on Saturday, September 6 and for the 54th year in succession it will take place at Borough Farm, home of the Smaridge family who are well known for their pedigree South Devon herd.

There will be a welcome return for cattle and sheep classes, and indications are that there will be a strong entry from both local exhibitors and others from further afield.

Horses will have their own field for the day and in addition to classes ranging from brood mares to working hunters there will be a pony club competition and a mini challenger gymkhana.

There will be Craft and Country Scene tents, another one especially for children and a young farmers' section as well as the usual horticultural, homecraft and floral contests. Events in the main arena include the Jamie Squibb freestyle motorbike display, the Pen-Llyn Classical Dressage team with Lusitano horses, Victor Pitt with his sheepdog and ducks, and both the Britannia Beagles and the hounds of the Dart Vale and South Pool Harriers.

Further information can be obtained from the show secretary Jacqueline Broad on 01548 821773 or email jwbkingsbridgeshow@btinter net.com.
