He said: "It was brilliant. So much better than past years. It was the best Fishstock ever."
Fishstock Brixham is a celebration of the fishing, seafood and maritime heritage.
Half a dozen bands from South Devon entertained the crowds with a mixture of pop, jazz and rock, while cooking demonstrations went on during the day with many chefs.
Capt Portus added: "I saw a lot of happy faces around. The feedback has been excellent. The fishing industry put on an excellent show and the public responded to that."
Cooking demonstrations using the best of the sea, traditional crab pot makers, fishing net makers and even a Fish Bus to get youngsters cooking fish, were available on the day. Several trawlers were open to the public for the day.
There were food stalls from South Devon all the way to Bristol and Weymouth while Paignton-based brewery Bays also had a good day.
Capt Portus added: "We think we will manage to raise £10,000 for the Fishermen's Mission which is fantastic. It was the best Fishstock event we put on. We are really pleased."
Keith Williams, vice-chairman of the Brixham Chamber of Commerce said: "Fishstock is good for the town because it brings people down and anything which does that should be applauded.
"Hopefully people will come back again afterwards. Fishstock is a great promotion for the town."
