FIVE children were rescued on Saturday after becoming stranded on a cliff at Paignton.

Brixham Coastguard said the alarm was raised about lunchtime by the yacht Carolina after its crew saw the children waving for help.

The children, aged between nine and 12, were trapped on ledges at Roundham Head. They were rescued by Torbay's RNLI inshore lifeboat. No-one was injured.

The children were said to have been on two ledges about six feet and 14 feet above the sea.

They were landed ashore at Goodrington and given safety advice by Torbay coastguards.
