TORBAY Coastguard was sent out to reports of a man stuck on a cliff at Ansteys Cove on the weekend.

The emergency services were alerted just after 4pm on Sunday.

But it is thought the man carried on down to the bottom of the cliff unaided.

Coastguards investigated and after speaking to other climbers, no person could be identified as being in difficulties, so they stood down.

Pay deal talks

PROPOSED local pay deals for state-funded workers which critics fear would hit wages in South Devon are 'unlikely to succeed' according to a senior Liberal Democrat.

Deputy leader Simon Hughes made the prediction ahead of his party's conference in Brighton where delegates are set to call for controversial public sector move being considered by the Coalition Government to be ditched.

A motion to be debated by activists highlights concerns that regional pay could 'adversely affect' many areas, taking money out of the local economy, hitting businesses, and acting as a 'brain drain'.
