College celebrate ‘highly successful’ community day
A COMMUNITY DAY hosted by South Devon College at their Paignton campus has been deemed another 'highly successful event' by College Principal Stephen Criddle.
Hundreds of families attended the free event on Saturday, launched just last year as part of the college's 80th birthday celebrations.
"This year we welcomed a wide range of the local community with their friends and families, including many young children" said Principal Criddle. "Those who had not been to see our campus before commented on the incredible range of provision here at the College, the enthusiasm of staff and the buzz of the environment. It was great to see so many enjoying all the good things on offer and appreciating the all around expertise, care and support of our staff. The children on site were clearly enjoying the thrill of hands on practical experiences, food and goodies."
The free family friendly event featured many fun activities including: A Sports, Fitness and Play zone with a bouncy castle and inflatable's plus sports challenges, live performances around the campus, meeting exotic animals and free hair & beauty treatments in the Image Zone. Live science experiments were taking place in the Science and Engineering Zone and a highly successful motor show was on display in the Automotive and Motorcycle Zone.

"Feedback so far has included many positive and complimentary comments regarding the friendliness and helpfulness of staff, the range of activities on offer, the great facilities on site and the diversity of the campus." added Mr Criddle, "The various catering options on offer were very much enjoyed and a number of bookings were made by visitors to return to the College for both courses and services at a later date."
During the event, a special presentation was made to mark South Devon College's recent double triumph at Westminster's Association of Colleges (AoC) Beacon Awards for 'Sport in the Curriculum' and the 'Effective Use of Technology'.
