A DRIVER was freed by firefighters after a collision on a service station forecourt in South Brent.

Firefighters from Buckfastleigh, Ivybridge and Modbury used hydraulic rescue equipment after the silver Ford Fiesta left the A38 carriageway and ploughed into a wall and a fence on the forecourt of the Carew Filling Station at 12.40am.

Fuel pumps were closed off as a precaution.

The driver, thought to be from Plymouth, was treated by paramedics and taken to hospital with facial injuries.
