A CHARITY musical extravaganza is being hosted at Oldway Mansion by Torbay Council chairman Martyn Hodge on Tuesday.

Torbay Police Choir, of which Cllr Hodge is chairman, is topping the bill and all proceeds will be donated to the chairman's chosen charities of the John Parkes Unit at Torbay Hospital and Brixham's FISH (Fishermen In Sculptured Heritage).

Guests are in for a treat with renditions of the Rhythm of Life and the Beautiful Villa as well as medleys from Andrew Lloyd Webber and Paint Your Wagon.

Jenny Abbot, soloist soprano who sings with the Toads Musical Group, will also be joining the police choir.

Cllr Hodge, who is also a member of Brixham Town Council, said: "This promises to be a very special event for two great causes.

"Some of the funds raised will help to build a bronze memorial of a man and boy holding a ship's wheel. The memorial will be in memory of all fishermen in South Devon lost at sea whose lives were dependent on fishing to put food on their's and our tables.

This year's civic concert starts at 7.30pm. Tickets are available on the door on the night and are priced at £5 to include a glass of wine or orange in the interval.
