SIXTH formers in Dartmouth have returned from a cooking and cultural adventure to the south of France.

The 16 Dartmouth Academy students (pictured) headed off to Alet Les Bains near Toulouse and Carcassonne for six days with food technology teacher Helen Buckland, PE teacher Luke Payne and sixth form tutor Mandy Pigott.

The aim of the trip was to allow the students to sample another culture and was arranged to give every student the chance to use their chosen specialist skills in another country.

The trip included the chance to experience different team activities, and included a visit to the medieval city of Carcassonne, canoeing down the river Aude, orienteering in the Pyrenees and the opportunity to entertain their French hosts by inviting them to a three-course dinner on the final night which the group prepared itself.
