Coombeshead girls heading for finals
TWO girls teams from Coombeshead Academy are flying high after reaching their respective county finals – in more than one version of the game.
The Year Seven and the Year Nine teams both reached this season's seven-a-side football and futsal finals in their respective age groups – having proved themselves as the top teams in South Devon.
Both sides won their age group titles at the South Devon Futsal Championships at Paignton back in November, which meant they qualified for the county finals, which were held last Tuesday.
At the county futsal finals, the Year Seven girls enjoyed 2-0 and 4-1 wins and a 1-1 draw in their group games, before losing 1-0 in the final to finish second overall.

The Year Nine team battled hard to earn third place overall in their age group.
But the teams have both impressed in the seven-a-side football format as well.
The Year Sevens recently braved the cold and rain to win the South Devon U12 Football tournament, while the Year Nine girls have reached the Devon finals for the third year in a row.
The finals are being held in May at Feniton Football Club. Both teams will play seven matches in a day long tournament against teams from across the county.
