"I have enjoyed seven years of working with colleagues in the council and partner organisations for the people of Torbay. I am, though, pleased to be able to use the experience and skills I have developed to continue to contribute to the public sector.

"I am looking forward to working with the new chairman, new chief executive and other board members at Plymouth Hospital in what are challenging but exciting times for health."

A chartered accountant by profession, Mrs Raikes has been a chief executive in the public sector for 12 years. She started her career in the Navy before going on to train as a teacher. In this capacity she worked at Lipson School, Plymouth, and Saltash Comprehensive School early in her career.

“Nice that she had the option of voluntary redundancy - there are probably a few lowly people in the public sector who wish that option was open to them.
At least they have now dispensed with the post of Chief Executive... right?”

“I trust she weighed in with the uncollected £50,000 rent for the ill-fated Balloon fiasco before leaving with her £160k self motivated golden goodbye.

    You couldn't make it up!

Never mind - onward to another cushy public sector number.”

“How convenient! How much did her "voluntary" redundancy cost the council tax payer?”
