Dart riverside run lets you eat as you exercise

A 15-mile riverside run in Devon, inspired by the annual Marathon du Medoc in Bordeaux which combines exercise with eating, takes place today.

The Delicious Dart Trail includes stop off points where runners can re-fuel.

At one of them, the Waterside Bistro in Totnes, chef Matt Buzzo and has confirmed plans for Saturday, March 16th, Trail Day, at The Waterside Bistro, the only food and drink stop at the riverside heart of Totnes.

The restaurateur is holding a French Celebration Day in honour of the charitable event and is hoping to raise even more money in support of kids' cancer charity CLIC Sargent, the Delicious Dart Trail's nominated beneficiary. During the day and evening, the Waterside Bistro will donate £1 to CLIC Sargent when customers order one of its French inspired signature bistro dishes.

"The Delicious Dart Trail" stops at the Waterside Bistro on The Plains in Totnes between 10.20am -11.20am with aAn estimated 250 participants will be running the 15 mile route from Dartington to Dartmouth via Sharpham, Dittisham and Kingswear.

The event is inspired by the annual Marathon du Medoc in Bordeaux and in honour of that French connection the Waterside will be giving particpants mini breakfast croissants washed down with local organic apple juice from Luscombe Drinks.

Devon-born chef, Matt Buzzo with his wife and business partner Delphine will be on welcoming the runners after the race's first two miles with apple juice and mini croissants on the restaurant's riverside terrace.
