Dartmouth Academy pupils and students have pulled out all the “spots” to raise funds for Children In Need.

The children from the all-through Academy really got into the spirit of the annual fundraiser – putting together lots of events to help bring in a whopping £638 for a great cause.

The Academy’s primary age children did lots of different things: Class 2M held a ‘Guess the weight of the Pudsey cake’ raffle; Class 3C played board games in the afternoon; Class 4/5B did some busking, dancing and singing for donations and Class 5/6C had a penalty shoot-out.

The primary children also all got dressed up in spots to mark the day – and were joined by teachers and support staff too!

On the Secondary site students paid to go without uniform and the Sixth Form all got dressed up in fancy dress – many in pyjamas and lots of teachers got into the act as well, including vice principal and head of Sixth Form Nick Bowles.

“The great thing about being an all through academy is everyone feels part of a wider family,” said Mr Bowles. “Events like Children in Need really bring that out as everyone had a lot of fun getting dressed up and taking advantage of the different raffles and cake stalls on offer!

“As ever at Dartmouth Academy I’m very proud of everyone pulling together and doing so much for a great cause – well done everyone!”
