The meal enjoyed by attendees was prepared by students under the tutelage of Food Technology teacher Helen Buckland and Food Technician Sue Jerams, with Turkey, stuffing, pigs in blankets, sprouts, carrots, peas and roast potatoes! The students also served the dinner, as customer service is a vital part of their Home economics studies. The Christmas puddings and after dinner sweets were also home-made.

Between the main course and the sweet the visitors were treated to a performance of the Academy pantomime – Rockafella Cinderella, which will be performed to parents and the community in January – and the appreciative Lunch Clubbers had fun cheering and booing the various heroes and villains on display!

More than 30 members of the Dartmouth Caring Lunch Club attended the event. Dartmouth Academy has held the event every year since it was formed in 2010, and principal Nick Hindmarsh said he was delighted it had grown into such a popular event for Lunch Club members.

“Dartmouth Caring is a wonderful charity and its Lunch Club is a wonderful social meeting point for the community,” he said. “We were delighted to host the Lunch Club yet again. The lunch was prepared and served by our students, and I would like to congratulate them on their hard work and very professional and polite attitude throughout the day. Well done to them and thank you to Dartmouth Caring Lunch Club members for joining us on what was a wonderful community event.”
