DARTMOUTH Ladies must still be ruing their missed chances after losing 1-0 in a typically fast, furious and often scrappy South Hams derby away to Kingsbridge & Salcombe.

Dartmouth dominated in midfield, through Sarah Barratt and their player of the match Jaz Harvey.

But Kingsbridge had the edge in defence and attack.

Dartmouth's defence held firm against their rivals' early pressure, and they started to create chances on quick counter-attacks.

But they lacked the killer touch in front of goal.

With a draw looking certain, K&S broke down their right wing ten minutes from time and Bridget Irish scored the winner.

Despite a spirited response, Dartmouth could not force an equaliser in the closing stages.

"It was a great derby encounter," said Darts' coach Chris Chater.

"On another day, the score could easily have been the other way around."
