Daughter wants killer of strip club owner brought to justice
THE South Devon daughter of a millionairess strip club owner who was brutally murdered while on holiday in the Dominican Republic has said she wants the killer brought to justice.
Denise D'Courtenay, 60, had been missing for a week before her decomposing body was found in bushes on a beach on the Caribbean holiday island's north coast in July.
Police investigations have failed to trace the killer who is thought to have been stalking Ms D'Courtenay before the stabbing at Rocon Beach.
Antoinette Ede, 42 and from Newton Abbot, has decided to speak out about her mum's death for the first time — on the day her body was being flown back to the UK.
Speaking from her Hilton Road home, Mrs Ede said: "I want my mum's murderer brought to justice."
Mrs Ede, who was brought up by a foster family in South Devon, remained close to her mum who owned the Queen Anne strip club in Vauxhall, South London — a popular haunt of footballers, soap stars and rappers.
Mrs Ede recalled: "She went on holiday and her flight home was cancelled. When she didn't get on the replacement flight my aunt got worried and reported her missing.
"I then got a phone call to say that Mum had been stabbed to death and left in the bushes."
She added: "Mum is being flown home today. It has taken all this time for them to identify her and let her go because her body was so badly decomposed."
Ms D'Courtenay, who had been holidaying on the island for 20 years and owned three apartments there, was eventually identified by her tattoos.
Mrs Ede says she believes she knows who is behind the killing.
Mrs Ede added: "I don't think I am being told the whole story."
Since her mum's death, Mrs Ede says she has had trouble eating and sleeping and has had problems with her blood pressure.
Mrs Ede also claimed burglars had 'trashed' her mum's London home last week.
"She hasn't even been laid to rest yet and burglars trashed the house," she said.
She explained: "I have not been able to grieve properly because I need to get justice for Mum. I need help to bring her murderer to justice."
