Derby decided by Turner's ton
MATT Turner slammed his third league century of the season as Paignton blitzed Brixham by seven wickets in the derby clash at Queens Park.
Brixham were bowled out early for 183 with Paignton skipper Mike Pedley (6-18) doing most of the damage.
Chris Lanyon scored 50 against his former Paignton colleagues and George Northcott made 38.
The run chase was a formality with Turner batting through to make 106 not out and Seb Benton chipping in with 31.
Paignton's latest win keeps them six points clear of pursuing Braunton at the top of the A Division table.
● BRAUNTON kept in touch with the leaders courtesy of a seven-wicket win over visiting Abbotskerswell.
In a game reduced to 47 overs-a-side owing to bad weather in North Devon, Abbots were limited to 171 for seven.
Abbots' batting was solid rather than spectacular with no one making more than James McMahon, who marked his first game for the club in two seasons with 35.
McMahon and Mike Smith (30) put on 59 for the sixth wicket after Steve Short (29) and Mark Hulse (24) made the early runs.
Former Torquay pair Jon Baglow and Ed Yeo had two wickets each for Braunton.
Braunton barely broke into a sweat as they knocked off the runs with a comfortable cushion of eight overs to spare.
It was plain sailing for Braunton after James Windsor (72) and Matt Harivel (49) rattled up 87 for the first wicket.
Windsor and Ian Roberts (26) notched 53 more which was as good as game over. Yeo and Andy Paddison were the not-out batters when Abbotskerswell's time came.
