DEVELOPERS behind a housing project on the edge of Paignton are set to submit a major planning application next month.

Taylor Wimpey is hoping to build up to 200 houses off Totnes Road in Collaton St Mary.

The house builder recently held a public consultation exercise to hear the views of the community on the proposal. Some 150 people attended the event.

David Matthews, land and planning director for Taylor Wimpey Exeter, said: "We will take the time to review our proposals in light of all of the feedback we received and would hope to be in a position to submit planning applications to Torbay Council by the end of October."

He added: "Public consultation plays a major part in the development of the Collaton St Mary site and we are committed to working together with the local community and listening to people's ideas and opinions to ensure that what we create meets the needs of new and existing residents.

"We were delighted to see so many people attend the exhibition; it's very encouraging to see local people take an active interest and express opinions and feedback in the future of the development."
