JAKE Durant repeated his victory of 12 months ago when he won the Mid-Devon CC/Colin Lewis Cycles Boxing Day 10-mile Time Trial.

Durant, 17, became the youngest official in the country when he was elected as the club's competition secretary at only 16 years old.

He has continued to race well and, hailing from Chudleigh Knighton, he knows the Claypits roads between there and the event start-finish point at Kingsteignton like the back of his hand.

Last year Durant claimed the scalp of Mark Holtom (Pro Bike UK), who went on to win several higher ranking events.

This time he had only his own clubmates in opposition, and his time of 24mins 32secs was just under two minutes faster than runner-up Adam Beams.

Third place went to Kenny Parker, who was riding a 'monocoque' machine made by the former Totnes-based Hotta firm who built a similar bike for Chris Boardman to win a gold medal at the 1992 Barcelona Olympic Games.

Parker has restored the bike to its former glory, and he crossed the line in 26-38.

Mark Sanders was fourth in 26-52 and Alan Drury fifth in 26-57.

Fifteen-year-old Tom Tinnyunt finished in 27-26 and Stephen Dart, who is preparing to ride from John O'Groats to Lands End next summer, in 27-46.

Other times were: Ian Deakin 27-01, Simon Aske 27-21, Jonathan Aske 28-14, John Phillips 28-24, Stuart Bergman 29-46, Lloyd Hale 30-06, Dan Bergman 30-42, Joel Kelly 32-40, Bob Gregg 33-19, William Kelly 33-43.
