Ellacombe Community Funding
HAVE you got a project you would like to run in Ellacombe? Could your group or club benefit from £2500. This year, Ellacombe has £8,489 funding available to community groups thanks to Community First.
A year ago Ellacombe received £33,910 from Community First, an £80m government-funded initiative, which runs for four years, until March 2015.
The programme helps communities come together to identify their strengths and local priorities in order to plan for their future and become more resilient. It funds both new and existing community groups.
Two other wards around Torbay also received money from the Community First fund: Tormohun and Blatchcombe.

Usha Garrattley, chairman of Ellacombe Community partnership said: "Ellacombe set up a Community First Panel a year ago. This panel then decided on a set of priorities for the Community First match funding, which addresses recognised needs within Ellacombe.
Ellacombe priorities were:
To improve facilities for young people in Ellacombe
To reduce anti social behaviour in Ellacombe
To improve the environment of Ellacombe
To reduce health inequalities in Ellacombe
To bridge the gap between older and younger people in Ellacombe.
Local groups or organisations within Ellacombe can apply for grants of up to £2,500, which has to be match funded with volunteer hours (£11.09 per hour) or cash, goods or service and is for a year.
Examples of what Community First can fund are:
Training for volunteers
Activities that support community activities
Any activity that meets an identified need in the community
The cost of putting on a local event or workshop
The purchase of equipment such as furniture or computers essential to the operation of your community or activity.
Last year the Ellacombe Community First panel had £5,624 to allocate and funded three projects
