FINAL SCORE: Torquay United 1-0 Shrewsbury Town
A SCRUFFY goal credited to striker Taiwo Atieno was enough to see Torquay up to fourth place in League Two.
Atieno's header in the 68th minute may have had some help across the line from defender Mark Ellis, but the important thing was that it separated two hard-working teams on a chilly afternoon at Plainmoor.

There were plenty of chances at both ends, from the first minute when a James Collins header hit the Torquay crossbar.
Both goalkeepers were busy, and Shrews stopper Chris Neal had to be at his very best to deny Danny Stevens, diving full length to stop a Stevens piledriver.

“another spanking win! alas why oh why can 2,500 supporters only be bothered to turn up. I know times are hard but these players and Mr Ling deserve at least 3,000. Rise up and be counted. Gazzgull. season ticket holder. Barum N Devon”

“Great Win.
Stand looks good.....pity the fella who sits in the top right (as you look at it) won't be able to see the Ellacombe end goal!
A bit of an exageration, but seriously, it's a bit of a design cockup, as he defo won't be able to see the corner flag, and I am considering that they will have a walk way.
Other than that, the stand looks impressive, bigger than I thought it would....should be good.
But I wont sit in the top corner!”

“A great performance indeed code01803. We now have one of the best sides in League 2, built on a small budget (relative to Northampton, who are bottom!). My only worry is injuries now, but I think we will get to the play offs at least. What an achievement for Martin Ling and the team! He brings the best out of players such as little Danny, whose confidence had evaporated under the orange manager Buckle.
On the other point you raise, I am not you. I have no intention of responding to "petersims". If he believes I am code01803 that is up to him. I have told him several times that I have ONE ID. I don't have conversations with myself, unlike some others on here.
One difference between you and I is that I WILL report somebody if I am being abused, who shouldn't I? I think you said elsewhere that you don't do this. My belief in freedom of speech has boundaries.”

“Well played today United, everyone played for each other, real team spirit.
Half time entertainment was good, Mark Jenkins stripping and showing he had the Torquay United kit under his suit, excellent entertainment, like him or loath him he has nerve. My mate won the cash and another guy won the crossbar challenge.
Fabulous game.
Shame Peter-sims was not there, he would have criticised every move they made.
See pete_m enjoyed it as well, we could be brothers? but we are not.”

“Brilliant!
Anyone notice that the top seven teams are all in the South, while the next seven are all in the North? Food for thought there”

“An excellent performance by the whole team against a strong Shrewsbury side. Well done Torquay, Marton Ling must be very proud.”
