Young budding marine engineers can try out some challenges and would-be entrepreneurs can attend a motivational talk about becoming your own boss.

There will also be an opportunity to hear about the college's new South West Energy Centre, which opens in September, offering a wide range of short courses for businesses and individuals.

The day, on March 9, follows on from the huge success of last year's Community Day and 80th birthday celebrations. It is open from 10am to 3pm.

College principal Stephen Criddle said: "I was delighted to hear many people and families attended throughout the day last year and enjoyed our special Community Day.

"South Devon College exists to provide outstanding further and higher education for local people and it is very important everyone has a chance to enjoy the huge range of activities which go on here.

"Our Community Day is a day for us to say a small thank you for all the great support the community gives to the college."

Community organisations will be attending to showcase their services including the college's own 999 cadets.

College Helpzone staff will also be on hand all day to offer free guidance, from career and course advice to financial help and transport.

The college were also recently awarded two prestigious Association of Colleges Beacon Awards for Sport in the Curriculum and for the Effective Use of Technology. There will be a presentation at 1pm on March 9 to mark this achievement.
