CHAGFORD Film Festival is back and promising to be bigger and better than ever before.

Building on the success of last year and with funding from the National Lottery, organisers have a Bond-themed extravaganza of a week planned.

The Dartmoor village will be hosting films from the 'Golden Age of Hollywood' plus some Bond Oscar winners will themselves be passing on some of the tricks of their trade.

The festival kicks off with a James Bond gala opening with a Dr No screening and casino.

The famous vintage mobile cinema will be visiting the square and talks, question-and-answer sessions and workshops will be held by film industry professionals during the week.

Among daily delights is the world premiere of local filmmaker Elizabeth Jane's The Ballad of Mary Whyddon which will be projected on to the church in a spectacular but scaled-down version of the jubilee light show on Buckingham Palace.

On the Friday night everyone can be a dancing queen at the singalong Mamma Mia screening with an Abba tribute band to follow.

And for the climax, the last night will see the rolling out of the red carpet for the grand finale, a screening of Goldfinger (pictured) in the Ring of Bells.

The festival will run for a week from September 24 to 29.

Tickets are available from The Globe Inn, Chagford, on 01647 433485.
