Fine season ends with 'the treble' for Marldon U13s
MARLDON Youth FC U13 manager Mike Ottaway has hailed his side's treble a 'massive achievement' after they overcame Galmpton United 2-0 to win the Pioneer Youth League Division One title.
The team had to win against third-placed Galmpton if they were to overhaul first-placed Bovey Tracey Lions. And goals from Tom Young and Scott Robinson were enough to give Marldon the championship with the commanding goal difference of plus 136.

"It's amazing considering that at the start of the season we wanted to concentrate on the county cup. And in doing so we had a few bad results which effectively put us out of the title race.
"But at the end of March first-placed Galmpton lost to second-placed Bovey Tracey which meant if we could win our last five league games then the division would ours," said Ottaway.
And that they did beating Buckland Athletic twice, Bovey Tracey, Totnes and Dartington and then Galmpton last Sunday.
It's the first time this treble has happened and Ottaway is delighted for the team's efforts.
"In all competitions we only lost twice. The boys worked so hard and it's a massive achievement in wining the treble. I'm really proud of them," said Ottaway.
