Firefighters tackle Sidbury workshop blaze

The Fire Service received a call to an outbuilding on fire at Furzehill, Sidbury, near Sidmouth.  Two fire appliances from Sidmouth and a water foam carrier from Danes Castle Exeter attended.

Upon arrival, fire crews requested a third fire appliance from Exmouth, with a thermal image camera and a positive pressure ventilation fan. Fire crews confirmed a fire involving workshops, measuring three metres by five metres, attached to a domestic property.  The outbuilding was well alight and severely damaged by fire.

The fire was extinguished by fire crews using four breathing apparatus wearers, two hose reel jets, a positive pressure ventilation fan and a thermal image camera to check for hot spots.  Fire crews utlised small tools to cut away hot spots.

The cause of the fire is believed to be accidental.
